Wesley Church Council Meeting 8 February 2024

Report to Congregation

As previously advised, it is intended that Church Council will continue to meet on the second Thursday of each month in 2024.

One month will focus on progressing planning and policies such as a mission plan and the implementation of recommendations from previous reporting.

To this end, and with limited discussion time available, Feb 8 meeting decided to form a small committee to consider:

what material relating to a Mission Plan is currently available.

how to best to ascertain possible future commitments and resources.

Council is committed to developing our mission priorities over coming months.

The next Council meeting on March 14 will focus on reports from the minister, committees, Wesley Music Foundation and any specific proposals from members of the congregation.

Council continues to monitor service times, online connectedness and our capacity to build on the current two service times. The diversity of our congregation is both rich and challenging. To promote community, we plan to have several combined services this year.

Planning is underway for a range of worship, meditation and musical opportunities each day during Holy Week. It is hoped members of the congregation will invite others to these times of encouragement through reflection and sharing.

It was decided that a Thanksgiving Service would be held on 21 April to express gratitude for progress following hail damage insurance work, AV upgrade, pandemic restrictions. This will be an opportunity to recognise our congregation’s contributions to overcoming difficulties and recognising possibilities for community service. Any suggestions for that service would be most welcome. Please speak to Rev Geoff Dornan.

If interested in enabling a light lunch on that occasion, please contact Wesley office. Please make such contacts by 1 March.
