NATIONAL PROGRAMMES

Frontier Services

Frontier Services is an agency of the National Assembly of the Uniting Church.

The issues of distance, isolation and access to services continue to challenge Australians living in remote Australia. Almost 100 years ago, John Flynn (“Flynn of the Inland”) pioneered medical and other programs to try and address these issues.

Today, Frontier Services carries on that work and is the major provider of aged care, health and community services, and pastoral support to people in remote Australia.

The National Office of Frontier Services is based in Sydney. Regional Offices for the Northern Territory, Western Australia, Queensland and South Australia are located in Darwin, Perth and Brisbane respectively and there is an administrative centre in Alice Springs.

National and regional office staff provide oversight and administrative and pastoral support to staff in the field and visit them as often as possible.

The vision of Frontier Services:

In the remote areas of Australia –

  • Reconciliation will become reality
  • Hope will replace anxiety and despair
  • Justice and equity will build community
  • Everyone will have access to the services they need
  • As we journey together.

The Parish supports the Uniting Church Frontier Services programmes throughout Australia.

Uniting Care Australia

UnitingCare Australia is a national advocacy office and does not directly provide services. Services are provided by members of the UnitingCare Network.

As an agency of the National Assembly of the Uniting Church in Australia, UnitingCare Australia works with and on behalf of the UnitingCare network to advocate for policies and programs that will help people live a decent life.

The UnitingCare network is one of the largest providers of community services in Australia. The network employs 35,000 staff providing services, supported by 24,000 volunteers, to more than 2 million people each year in 1300 sites in every state and territory in remote, regional and urban Australia.
