Wesley Church Council Meeting 5 December 2023

Report to Congregation

The final Council meeting for the year followed a meal and sharing time with elders.

Below are several outcomes for which to give thanks:

1. Council approved the appointment of David Benger as Wesley Uniting Church’s Volunteer and Safe Church Compliance Officer. David will work with a number of people who have roles in checking safety for people and facilities, ensuring paperwork and practical considerations are kept up to date. We are grateful to David for agreeing to this oversight role and look forward to working with him in the role.

2. Simon Cowling and Keith Hart were specifically thanked for the completion of the Audio Visual upgrade and work on ironing out implementation issues.

3. As we give thanks for a busy year, we also look forward to 2024.

2023 Parish Life AGM to be held on Sunday 25 February 2024. A 10.00 am Combined Service will be followed by a brief morning tea and congregational meeting. Another member of the Church Council will need to be elected at that meeting.

An important planning reminder is that Wesley groups will need to have reports to share their achievements and hopes for the year ahead, sent to Wesley Office by 4 February 2024 for inclusion in the Parish Life Report.

4. Church Council will continue to meet monthly on the second Thursday of the month. Every second month meetings will receive reports from ministers, committees, Wesley Music Foundation and any specific proposals from members of the congregation. On the alternate month Council will follow up on directional questions such as developing a Mission Plan, implementation of recommendations from previous reports.

The first Council meeting for 2024 is planned for 8 February 2024.
