WESLEY CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING on 10 August 2023

Report to Congregation Annual Financial Report 2022-2023 and Budget 2023-2024: These were endorsed and will be circulated to the Congregation by Sunday, 27 August 2023, two weeks prior to the Congregational Finance AGM on Sunday, 10 September.

Wesley Church Council Membership and Elders: It was decided that nominations and elections of an additional Council member and new Elders will be held later this year. Intentional Interim Ministry Report: Council will follow-up and take stock of where Wesley is in the final report recommendations provided by the intentional interim ministers, Rev. Gareth Thomas-Burchell and Rev. Karyn Burchell- Thomas.

Wesley Life and Witness Consultation Report: A draft report prepared by the Presbytery Pastoral Relations Committee (PRC) consultation team was discussed. Council feedback on the draft will be conveyed to Rev. Elisabeth McMillan (team convenor) and the PRC. It is anticipated that the final report will be printed and shared with the Congregation. Rev. McMillan will afterwards be available to the Congregation to discuss the report.

New A/V System Update: Following the meeting, Simon Cowling provided great news regarding the new Audio/Visual system. The new sound desk is expected to be delivered and installed in mid-August with the main system fitout to occur during 4-9 September. Training sessions are planned for operators. New operators are welcome and needed.

Heartfelt Thanks to Wesley Volunteers: Council recognises the considerable work regularly provided by the many, many volunteers at Wesley. Wesley could not operate during the week as well as provide Sunday worship services without those efforts. Blessings and thanks to all who give generously of their time to help Wesley function.
