WESLEY CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING 14 September 2023

Report to Congregation

Church Council met on Thursday 14 September and noted with gratitude progress on a number of projects through many forms of congregational voluntary contributions.

Council was pleased to note that Tessa Bradbury, Caitlin Launt, Andrew Wright and Emily Wright, members of our congregation, were selected by the Canberra Region Presbytery as representative to ACT/NSW Synod which met in Katoomba 15 - 17 September.

We note the ongoing need for more elders. Please speak to Rev Geoff Dornan if you believe someone should be approached in this regard. Supportive friendship networking by all members of the congregation is highly valued.

Council is considering a part time supply ministry placement for 12 months during 2024.

Council is considering its response to Assemblys ACT 2 report and members of the congregation are also encouraged to follow up on this initiative. Links and opportunities are highlighted in weekly Notices.

Council was grateful to receive ideas for recognising the spiritual growth and support we receive from others and Rev Geoff will follow up with consideration of worship on All Saints Day.

Property issues are being progressed by Keith Hart and the Property Committee. It is hoped that Wylie Street Manse might soon be approved by Synod to be made available for shorter term rental.

A report from the Children and Youth Ministry Team was received. We thank those who have been part of great teamwork and physical effort to maintain and aim to grow our work with younger families. A working Bee held recently consolidated many children and Youth resources, so they are now more readily accessible. Most resources are now stored either in cupboards in the Vercoe Room or in the Nursery Room Lectionary- based activity sheets are again being made available at the side entry to the Church to be drawn to the attention of those attending either service.
