Report to Wesley Congregation from Church Council Meeting 9.5.24

Council has continued to review responses provided by the congregation through:

May 2021 Planning Day,

Conflict Transformation Report (Corkin),

Intentional Supply ministers (Revs Karyn Burchell-Thomas and Gareth Thomas Burchell),

Presbytery Life and Witness Consultation

ongoing input from members of the congregation.

The following headings are currently seen as guiding outreach and Mission at Wesley:

Nurturing Christian faith and connections within and outside of Wesley,

Fostering inclusion and community,

Building on the strengths of the music program,

Reaching out to the local area and elsewhere,

Fostering growth and change.

Wesley is already committed to a range of activities which aim to further these goals.

Council is now seeking to gauge congregational interest in:

Dinners for small groups, with a host home and attendees providing food for the menu.

Games or Trivia Night for as broad a range of ages as possible.

A presentation of information about the Community Refugee Integration and Settlement program (CRISP)

To achieve these goals organisation and participants will be needed. As a first step, if you are interested in assisting organisation of any of the above activities please email, phone or speak to Paul Chen, Rev Geoff Dornan Jan Sismey before 7 June.

Offertory Income remains steady from committed electronic and in plate giving. It was noted that end of financial year may be when some are reviewing finances. Our giving is a vital component of our capacity for maintenance, growth and outreach through provision of hospitality, meeting places and staffing.

There has been a request that cards be provided for some members of the congregation who give electronically and would also like to join the symbolism of giving during worship. Please contact Kelle McNamara in the Wesley Office if you wish to receive such cards.

If wanting to know more about bequests, please speak to Jan Sismey or Treasurer Robert James.

Wesley Foyer and Ceremonial Corridor carpeting is one of the last insurance jobs. Hav-ing identified money available and carpet tiling choices, it is hoped this work can proceed in the very near future.

Councillors present: Paul Chen, Jenny Dean, Sonia Di Mezza, Geoff Dornan, Keith Hart, Robert James, John Sutton, Jan Sismey Chair

Apologies: Susan Akhurst, Tarlie Alcock
