Church Council Report to Congregation for 8 May 2025 meeting
Cooma Uniting Church preaching support began at Easter with Rev Dr Bruce Stevens’ visit. An MOU received by Wesley’s Council outlines facilitation measures such as contribution to travel and accommodation by Cooma’s congregation.
Wesley Music Foundation’s audit report to June 2024 has now been circulated to the congregation on 9 May 2025.
Our Budget currently gives a donation to Frontier Services and Uniting World of $2,500 each. We now have the resources to give up to $5,000 extra and seek suggestions for where these might go. Ideas to be put in writing and given to the Finance Committee via Treasurer Robert James by 26 May 2025.
An application was made in 1999 by two members of the National Trust to the ACT Heritage Council for consideration, that Wesley Uniting Church be placed upon the Heritage Register. Several Heritage Council members visited in March this year. Church Council is now aware that the Heritage Council advise it “is not satisfied on reasonable grounds that the place is likely to have heritage significance as defined by the Heritage Act 2004, section 10.”
Jan Sismey for attendees: David Benger, Liz Chan, Jenny Dean, Sonia Di Mezza, Rev Geoff Dornan, Robert James, Kathie Potts, John Sutton
