WESLEY CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING 12 MARCH 2026

Rev Daniel Mossfield chaired the meeting.

The Office Bearers elected for the next 12 months are:

  • Chairperson: Kathie Potts
  • Secretary: David Benger
  • Treasurer: Robert James

Canberra Region Presbytery

The Canberra Region Presbytery is preparing to plant (establish) a new church in the Molonglo Valley in the Denman Prospect area. This involves Churches across the Presbytery being invited to seek people who may be called to be involved. For some, this may include loosening many ties with their current congregation. For others, it may involve keeping one foot in their current congregation and placing their other foot in the new church. The Church Council agreed to prepare an insert for the Church notices on this item with further details.

The Canberra Region Presbytery office currently has two paid positions available and seeks your help to fill them. The first position is for a part time Administration Assistant role at 12 hours per week and the second position is for a part time Records Officer at 10 hours per week.

Both positions are on a six-month contract. Perhaps there is a recent school leaver or someone who is semi-retired that may be interested in working a couple of hours a week. The Church Council agreed to place this item in the notices with further details.

Church Parish Directory

The Church Parish Directory is in the process of being updated. You may advise any updates to Kathie Potts (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or David Benger This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). The council agreed that anyone who has privacy concerns could advise to withhold their details from the Directory. In the interim please advise Kathie or David.

Welcome Process

It was agreed that a Welcome Process will be set up for the 10.45am service within the next couple of months. This will involve a form being placed in the foyer for people to sign up on to indicate that they are available to participate on a roster, and it is hoped that a coordinator will volunteer. It was suggested that a table could be placed close to the office reception area so that new people could be intercepted and welcomed as they enter.

Church Council discussed possible co-options to its membership but decided to wait on making any decision until the question of a new convenor of Elders was settled.

Kathie Potts for David Benger, Liz Chan, Sonia Di Mezza, Keith Hart, Robert James, Rev Daniel Mossfield, John Sutton.
