WESLEY CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING 12 February 2026

Report to Congregation

Minister in Placement, Rev Daniel Mossfield was welcomed to his first Council meeting.

John Cutts attended in order to bring a recommended name from Wesley JNC for a 0.5 placement in our ministry team. That recommendation will now be considered by Presbytery Pastoral Relations Committee on 18 February.

It is hoped those deliberations will enable a congregational vote at the Congregational Life on AGM 22 February.

It was noted that Elders are giving prayerful consideration to a new Facilitator of Elders.

Property work completed has been summarised in the AGM Reports. Looking forward, Council is particularly aware that voluntary time and church finances are now required, to renovate The Cottage in Sydney Avenue.

Council gratefully endorsed a proposal to form a Wesley Hospitality Team to be titled Ministry of Hospitality.

It was noted that considerable time and effort is donated by many. Heather Hart and Liz Chan are the primary contacts for setting up lines of communication. They will seek to ensure adequate support is scheduled for special occasions and also seek to minimise individual overload. Please watch Notices for your opportunity to advise Heather and Liz of your willingness to contribute.

Council agreed to endorse support for a Charity Concert to be held by The Order of St Lazarus and noted the Church’s co-sponsorship with the Wesley Music Centre. Support will be via Notices and Concert flyers over the weeks before 17th May and a brief presentation by a YWCA representative at our two church services. The church will also forgo rental fees.

Three benefitting charities are:

  • YWCA Next Door program - major beneficiary (housing support for older women)
  • The Farm in Galong;
  • The Genesaret Community.

These three charitable causes will be considered part of our 2026 mission outreach.

CRISP Gregor Henderson is invited to update the congregation on progress for the Zardeh family and current suggestions regarding management of transport needs.

Ann Yan and Jan Sismey were thanked for their contributions to Council as co-opted members.
