Wesley Uniting Church Council

Report to Congregation for 10th July meeting

Call to Rev Daniel Mossfield

All paperwork has now been completed at Congregational, Presbytery and Synod levels thanks to careful work by Council Secretary David Benger and Treasurer Robert James. The Letter of Call has also been sent. Congregational prayers are now sought for opportunities to support as transitions and changes are embraced

Property Committee

A review of maintenance needs at both the Sydney Avenue Manse and Cottage will be undertaken as soon as possible. Particular thanks go to Keith Hart for organisation and communication regarding Synod property standards and requirements

CRISP (Community Refugee Support Program)

The Report given in Announcements at worship services on 6 July was received by Council. Now that the family’s travel documents are in order and flight interruptions in the Middle East are clearing it is hoped that travel dates will be known in the near future. The CRISP Committee has made preparations as far as possible without definite dates being known. Translated phone conversations have been helpful for communication between Jordan and Canberra

Wesley Tennis Club

Cooperative teamwork by the club with coaches has resulted in Council being pleased to endorse a proposal that sight screens will be installed to reduce glare for players. This at no cost to the congregation

It is envisaged these will also provide greater amenity for a special to program to be introduced for people who are blind or have low vision. Council also endorsed this initiative

It is noted with gratitude that the Tennis Club has also been able to guide those seeking pickle ball bookings in the Lancaster Hall toward our Wesely Office staff and scheduling

Jan Sismey (Co-opted Chair) for: Tarlie Alcock, David Benger, Liz Chan, Sonia Di Mezza, Rev. Geoff Dornan, Keith Hart, Robert James, Kathie Potts.

Apologies: Jenny Dean, John Sutton
