Church Council Report to Congregation for 10 April 2025 meeting

Thank you to the 9 hosts and 70 participants and facilitators who contributed to sharing meals in homes. One group is still to meet having been postponed due to illness. It is anticipated this welcome outreach will be organised again possibly in September.

Wesley s CRISP (Community Refugee Integration and Settlement Program) committee is now waiting for further information on the arrival of a family of 6 from Syria after 7 May 2025. Requests for particular support are in the Notices and might also be adjusted following direct engagement with the family after arrival.

Council is grateful to Rev Ian Diamond s facilitating Wesley support for Cooma Uniting Churchs audio visual and worship. Planning is well advanced for a Wesley preacher to contribute once a month into next year.

Graeme Brown is seeking interest for recognising the 70th anniversary of the opening of Wesley as the National Memorial Church and a visit by the Moderator on Nov 16, 2025.

Property: Procurement of replacement glass for the top 4 Chapel windows will be with tinted safety glass. Upgrading of Lancaster Office 2 is completed apart from necessary adjustments to electrical wiring.

A program of Worship and Meditation opportunities during Lent has been created by planning and cooperation between staff and volunteers from the Church and Music Centre.

Wednesday Lunchtime concerts organised by the Wesley Music Centre are well attended and performers booked for 2025 and 2026. Wesley Scholars for 2025 are currently being recruited

The 48th anniversary of the formation of the Uniting Church in Australia will be recognised by our congregation with a combined service on June 22nd. Worship will be followed with a light lunch and include a farewell to Jill Walker. Liz Chan, Heather Hart and Lorraine Billingham have kindly offered to coordinate the latter arrangements.

Minutes of the 2024 Finance AGM and February 2025 Congregational Life meetings are available from the Church office. Any suggested changes should be made to Church Council Secretary David Benger by Friday 2 May.
