Summary for 13 November 2025

Minister in Placement

30th November will provide the congregation’s opportunity to thank Rev Geoff and his wife Gilda for their contribution to our thinking, worship and fellowship. Geoff’s wisdom, experience and team building will be missed by Church Council.

Following Presbytery consultation with Rev Daniel Mossfield and Wesley, Daniel’s induction service has been scheduled for 2.00 pm on 17th January 2026. It is anticipated we will have the privilege of hosting visitors from the wider Presbytery and Sydney for that event.

Council has asked Presbytery to consider inviting Wesley’s existing JNC to explore options for the possible appointment of a minister to work with Daniel Mossfield in 2026 on a 0.5 basis.

Wesley’s AGM is scheduled for 22 Feb 2026. It is important to note that each Wesley group is asked to submit a report to Wesley Office by 27 January thus enabling collation and circulation 2 weeks before that meeting. Now is therefore the time to ensure photographs and other contributions for reports are prepared. Many groups will soon be winding up for the year.

Property

Council is grateful to Ann Yan for facilitating the production of a Wesley Church Closing Checklist. This pictorial assistant is to be found on the noticeboard in the side porch entry. It is also available from Wesley Church Office and Wesley Music Centre Office for convenient reference by users. Please ensure it is consulted if there are any questions about returning items to their designated locations before closure of an event.

Wesley Cottage has now been vacated and will be renovated prior to any further occupancy.

Wesley Music

Marko Sever will no longer be available to teach students at the ACT Organ School (ACTOS) in 2026. The WMF Board has invited Sam Giddy to be the teacher next year. Sam is known to many at Wesley having begun his organ studies at ACTOS. He is currently Director of Music at St Mark’s Darling Point. Sam holds a Graduate Diploma of Divinity from the Australian College of Theology.

It is hoped Sam will also be in Canberra for the ACTOS concert on Friday, 28th November (6pm).

Elders and Church Councillors will gather on 11 December to give thanks for 2025 and look toward 2026. It is anticipated Rev Daniel Mossfield and possibly his wife Nicki will be able to join us at that event.

Present: Jan Sismey (Co-opted Chair), David Benger (Secretary), Robert James (Treasurer), Tarlie Alcock (Co-ordinator of Elders), Liz Chan, Sonia Di Mezza, Rev Geoff Dornan, Keith Hart (Property Manager), Kathie Potts, John Sutton, Ann Yan (Co-opted)

Absent: Jenny Dean (Wesley Music Foundation).
